FAIRES
by Jordi Galí
Premiere in 2025

FAIRES is a creation envisaged with a multiform and contextual format, which questions the making of the craft gesture, what surrounds it (the tools, the accessories, the clothes, the context or territory in which it takes place…) and the conditions of its reception.

Following the research-action process, the creative work will go through stages of observation and apprenticeship with craftspeople who, in particular, develop manual and traditional practices, and will also organise times dedicated to personal exploration and writing. This approach will make it possible to question the connections that exist between different craft gestures and the materials they shape, between the different kinaesthetic experiences produced, between the multiple creative improvisations that are the working gestures and ‘which make the craftsman an active being in a world of active materials’ in the words of Tim Ingold.

FAIRES is also a desire to reformulate and update the foundations that underpin our artistic approach.

It is the opening of a new cycle of artistic research, in which the aim is no longer to create works as finished formal and aesthetic objects, but to develop a process over time.

It’s the desire to pile up experiences that can feed off and respond to each other. Creating a foundation of attempts, tools and traces that are reinjected at every opportunity, inventing our own know-how.

It’s a slow process of maturation for artistic creation, while preserving intelligent and sensitive areas for sharing. On each occasion, with each partner and the specific features of the context in which it is set up, we will co-construct the contours, modalities, temporalities, durability and traces of the experience we are offering.
