Ombres fidèles - faithful shadows
On the occasion of Gabriel Abrantes' exhibition Limbo, presented at the Lambert Collection from 26 October 2025 to 22 March 2026, Vânia Vaneau and Jordi Galí, accompanied by composer Bernard Menu, have created Ombres fidèles (faithful shadows), a shared workshop for adults supported by Addictions France in Avignon, designed in collaboration with the Orchestre national d'Avignon.
The workshop combines the foundations of Carnaval (Vânia Vaneau) and Pipa (Jordi Galí): a sensitive exploration of the continuity between the body and matter, followed by the creation of costumes and figures — masks, volumes, presences — designed as forces of transformation. Creating one's ghost, one's double, one's totem. Giving it breath, weight, rhythm. Set it in motion.
Through physical, visual and sound practices, particularly around Schonberg's Transfigured Night, participants explore the relationship between gesture and object, between breath and form, between the invisible and the apparition.
As in the exhibition, the human figure moves: it masks itself, multiplies, becomes fictionalised. The workshop will conclude with a public performance in the form of a collective stroll: a journey through totemic figures occupying the space, between immobility and slow walking.
